Now we find the Doc of Rock himself, playing his 'Brad Gottlieb Custom Edition' Gibson Les Paul in the Bunker. Doc's visits to the Bunker are rare, but legendary. Bog often requires the doc's help in setting up equipment, or finding good tone.
Here, the Bog Jams on yet another of his vintage Gibsons, just outside of the BUNKER in his pool room.
Below, an 18-year old Bog (circa 1977) executes a wild flurry of notes in an intense moment showcasing some of his groundbreaking tapping abilities. Many credit the dawn of the neo-shred tapping era to Eddie Van Halen, but in all actuality, the Bog discovered this technique on his own when hosting a guitar clinic for underprivileged youth in North Minneapolis. Bog's selfless deployment of his prodigious talent in order to help the less fortunate has gone largely unnoticed, due mostly in part to his overwhelming humility and selflessness.
The picture below finds a 16-year old Bog eager to begin his third year of formal training with Steve Howe. Bog's early days were largely flavored with the myopic drone of pentatonic absurdity, until he single-handedly pulled himself out of his blues-scale rut and catapulted himself onto the cutting edge of progressive rock, where he continues to re-shape and re-define traditional conceptions of music into new frontiers to this day.
Here, the Bog shows off his shiny new lighter in front of his mixing boards and vintage amplifiers. Bog's tone can range from mellow and sweet, to snarly and huge, depending on the settings and his mood. In hand we find Bog's gorgeous twentieth anniversary edition Gibson Les Paul.
Here, we find the Bog actually IN a bog....one of Bog's additional hobbies is searching for baby snapping turtles....Bog finds the younglings in the fall and raises them in an aquarium over the winter....then finally releases them (as shown below) in the spring when they are more fully grown and in less danger of being eaten by birds, raccoons, or other predators of the BOG.
Bog often seems to forget just who the hell he is, therefore he posts signs liberally throughout various wooded areas to remind himself.
Here we find BOG in Brad's old apartment, 7F jamming on the 'Brad Gottlieb Custom Edition' Gibson Les Paul. Bog often would need to visit 7F in order to achieve good tone that so often, eluded him in the Bunker.
A little-known fact about the BOG is that he is an official Turtle Journeyman, earning that promotion from his nephew, the Grand Master Turtle-Hunter Brad Gottlieb. BOG holds the distinction of rescuing, hatching and caring for a young snapping turtle...a feat few others in the world can claim. Bog graciously provided us with some pictures from his neighborhood pond of a female snapper out laying eggs.....and the sad remains of a scavenged nest....
